Europe is slowly coming back to reality after beautiful summer in most places. Summer, which I hope you have been able to spend by the river or by the sea, enjoying a free access to clean water and cultural activities on waterfronts.
Waterfronts of Europe are our biggest concern in the network of River//Cities. From post industrial cultural heritage in Gdansk or Govan to big festivals in Vienna or London, we work for more cultural content on and around water in our cities.
This year River//Cities is a partner in two European projects. I_Improve funded by Erasmus+ and S.O.S.Climate Waterfronts funded by Horizon 2020. What's more all partners in Memory of Water, a cooperation funded by Creative Europe, are River//Cities’ Council Members.
Those European partnerships give us a unique possibility and undeniable pleasure to work with three very important issues: ownership and transformation of cultural heritage in urban environments; innovative methodologies for cultural organisations in local communities and sustainable solutions for climate changes threatening the waterfronts.
We operate internationally and locally with cultural heritage, informal learning and sustainable development in mind!
River//Cities Platform gathers a cultural diversity of people, places and practices - with great capacity of influencing a change and moving the discourse forward. Diversity and sustainability, both keywords leading to the mobilisation of forces of culture and to translation into tangible work, creativity and participation.
