The Media Education Centre (MEC) for children, youth and adults is a non-political, non-profit, non-sectarian NGO. People from different socio-cultural backgrounds work together converting and translating ideas and opinion in creative Media Language and to produce film, animation, television and other media with main goal to ADVANCE Communication, Social Change, Intercultural-Interfaith Dialogue, Social Inclusion, Ecological Wisdom and Social Responsible Voluntarism. Our work promotes the informal and non-formal education of children, young adults, disabled people, migrants, refugees and people from other vulnerable groups. Media, Information and Peace education and literacy support our effort to promote Peace in the Region and to ensure human and children’s rights, especially to information, democracy, self-expression and preservation of cultural, national and religious diversity.
The MEC currently:
Works with various organizations to organize professional Meetings, Symposia and Summits on media and information literacy, media and digital education for children and youth, the development of civil society; cultural, national and religious diversity; human and children’s rights; intercultural dialogue and social inclusion of marginalized groups of people such as Roma people, migrants and refugees, people with handicap, small ethnic groups, young people with less opportunity.
Participates in activities and implement projects promote media education and literacy as a tool to facilitate social change, peacemaking, reconciliation of the relationship and the development of civil society and democracy, especially in the Balkans and Danube Region Countries.
Cooperates with professional associations and other organizations from Serbia and abroad that are working to establish the basic conditions necessary for the diffusion of media, digital and information literacy, education, television programming, and audio-video communications and media projects all over the world.
The mission of the Media Education Centre is to promote role of the Media, Peace and Information Literacy in the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, new media pedagogy, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.
One of the main projects of the Media Education Centre is Danube Peace Boat 2016-2020, media initiative for building Interactive and Intercultural educational model, to motivate decision makers in Danube Region and Cities, local communities and wider to support and promote cooperation for sustainable development.
Danube Peace Boat is Strong Network for Creative 5xI Cooperative Movement, Educational Media Production by New Generation to endorse influence and relationship between people-youngsters and decision makers in different countries, to encourage using of media for open International, Intercultural, Interactive, Innovative, and Inclusive model for permanent education, cooperation and exchange.
Danube Peace Boat Cultivate New Generation ready to combine Tolerance, Knowledge and Skill about Cultural, Historical, Traditional and Environmental Heritage in Different Media outcomes with content same good for motivation, wakeup vocation, education and traveling workshop presentation.
