During 2019 Intercult has been searching for an interesting methodology to use for changing our own actions as well as to inspire others to join us on our way.
In November 2019 in Vienna we summarized our findings from researching several organizations, which work with and in local communities. All of them were led by female leaders. Here is our presentation with examples and conclusions.Reflections in the first phase of the project
Starting point:
•MORE PRACTICE BASED PROGRAM
•LOCALLY RELEVANT
•CONNECTED TO INTERCULTS VISION
•CONNECTED TO INTERCULTS HISTORY
The local cultural/art creates a bridge and acts an active mediator between local decisionmakers, the audience and the physical and social pre-conditions of the place. There is a need of power to connect & to create. The really interesting question is however: What is the power of changemaking ? What makes the transformation happen? Changemaking in arts&culture represented by organizations with female leaders is about transformational leadership and relational energy in the work place.
Identified key-words:
ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE
FEMALE LEADERSHIP
ARTS METHODOLOGIES
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
EMPOWERMENT OF CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS
Definition of a challenge: using specific arts practices learned from changemakers create a practice based methodology which can empower women working in cultural sector and help them develop their capacity for transformational (changemaking) leadership
the methodology can be useful for young women on the entering cultural sector workplaces; established female employees who are looking to ‘level up’ inside the workplace.
women from a migrant background interested in developing the qualities needed to become a transformational leader in the cultural sector
The methodology has also societal relevance. Topic is relevant and attractive to both audience and funders: gender, power, female leadership are ‘hot topics’, as is the development of the creative economy and introducing diversity to work places, on a local/national/international level .
Let´s continue our journey to step 2!
