Baltic Audience Links 2016 - 2017 Project’s Research

One of the Baltic Audience Links project's aims is to complete a  research that focuses on developing a Baltic network of cultural actors that apply participatory approach in developing urban spaces and contributing into development of the local communities.

The result of the research is an open and growing database (keeping technical solution as a future task) of cultural organisations in Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, a toolbox of methods, principles and a set of cases in developing and supporting local networks through various cultural actions.

The research has been conducted by Lithuanian partner, Laboratory for Urban Games and Research: Laimikis.Lt. According to the Laboratory one of the 'side effects' of the research is the emerging topic about the capacity of cultural actors in the Baltic states and the conditions of working in cultural sector, which could bring a useful debate about the changes needed in the management of the cultural sector in Lithuania and Latvia to sustain positive change that cultural organisations bring to the local communities.

Baltic Audience Links is one of the small clusters within the bigger network of the cultural innovators, that apply culture as a tool of positive change in the Baltic Sea Region. The partners of the project - Intercult, Laimakis It. and River // Cities Platform (together with the Baltic Cultural Center in Gdansk as a member of the R//C network) have already contributed into the growing regional networks of cultural actors. We have already started connecting these clusters of the regional networks through joint events: Audience Links Xchange in Stockholm in February; Co-urbanism: Cultural Action and Urban Regeneration in Vilnius on April 07th; Meeting in Gdansk: 18-20 May.

The presentation of the research outline took place at the final project meeting in Gdansk: 18-20 May 2017.

The project is co financed by the Baltic Sea Unit at Swedish Institute in Stockholm.
