IWA Water and Development Congress & Exhibition 2017, 13 - 16 November 2017, Buenos Aires, Argentina
The International Water Association members and staff are situated in 130 countries worldwide, forming the largest international network of water professionals working towards a water wise world.
In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly stated that access to safe drinking water and sanitation was an essential human right. Guaranteeing these services, through the sustainable management of a scarce and essential natural resource, is therefore one of the greatest and urgent challenges of our time. IWA believes that partnership, participation and dialogue are key. The joint work of governments, companies and civil society will be fundamental to reach these goals, which are part of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The objective of the Argentina National Water Plan is to provide drinking water to more than 4 million people and sanitation for 7 million in the next 7 years, reaching, for 2023, 100% of coverage in both services. That is why hosting the Water and Development Congress & Exhibition 2017 in Buenos Aires, is timely.
The Water-Wise Cities track during the conference will bring together urban and water professionals to continue the Gothenburg conversation on water-wise cities, but in the context of developing and emerging economies.
A City Leaders Forum focusing on the theme “Water for social inclusion through equitable services and inclusive high quality public spaces” will convene urban leaders.
