CAE Launches The Double For Culture Campaign
What will the budget for culture look like post 2020? Will there be funding allocated to a specific cultural programme in the next programming period?
The EU budget is to fund more with less. Günther Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, proposed a combination of fresh money and cuts across all EU programmes, with the exception of Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020.
As the negotiations over Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) move forward, Culture Action Europe calls the European cultural sector to become loud by supporting additional European funding for culture. Therefore, CAE launches the new campaign.
The campaign slogans are the following:
! Double the budget available for culture in absolute terms ! #Double4Culture
! Ensure that at least 1% of the next MFF is allocated to culture across policy fields and funding programmes ! #Commit1%
Moreover, Culture Action Europe, in collaboration with the Budapest Observatory and other CAE members and partners issued an publication which collects relevant evidence substantiating the impact of culture across a range of EU policy fields: from health and well-being, to innovation, growth and jobs, external relations, cohesion and migration, education, and the promotion of democratic principles.
A SHARED EUROPEAN FUTURE IS ONLY POSSIBLE WITH SUSTAINABLE AND SUBSTANTIAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR CULTURE.
